How Participant-Directed Hiring Works With Minnesota FMS
Working directly with a participant or their representative offers a distinct, rewarding experience. Here’s how it works:
Employer:
The Participant is the employer, and the Participant (or their representative) manages all aspects of employment. Mains’l is the designated Fiscal Employer Agent.
As the Fiscal Employer Agent Mains’l assists the employer with some of their administrative responsibilities, including processing payroll and taxes. For all participants within our FMS Department, Mains’l is not the employer.
Employee Responsibilities:
Support varies but may include assistance with daily living, community activities, skill-building, and fostering independence.
Payment & Hours:
Wages, schedules, and hours are determined by the participant or their representative to meet individual needs.
