Wow, did the Mains’l Mission Team put in effort at the Dete Old Age Home! This year the three large projects at the home consisted of building a foul (chicken) run, finishing the newly created pig sty, and the construction of a new a fish pond! Even with the large Mains’l group, many more hands joined the team to complete these major projects. Truly, without everyone’s engagement, we could not have accomplished all we did. While temperatures rose into the 90’s, the team persevered! A great satisfaction comes from knowing these projects will offer a sustaining food and income source for the home.
The below photos depict the 2-day foul run construction. From the ground up (and below!), a trench was dug, bricks were laid and cemented (note the above photo – the brick line is so straight!), holes were dug, posts were debarked, finished with creosote, sunk, and cemented, and chicken wire was added. The final finishing touch was adding the roof!
